Today’s Vendor Spotlight is on A Vintage Affair! She does vintage rentals and wedding coordination! She has put together some of the best vintage themed weddings here in Colorado! If you haven’t seen her work, you should go look, right now!
First things FIRST! What’s your favorite Starbucks drink?
I am not sure if this is the best question for me, I actually don’t drink coffee or tea. So it would probably be water!
How did you get started? How long have you been in business, etc?
A lot of my girlfriends were getting married. I noticed how all of them were trying to make their wedding unique. Thus, there were buying, making, and storing all of this decor before their weddings. I thought it would great if a company rented unique decor for weddings. I started the business when I was working in Human Resources on the side. I started with very small decor to see if there was a market for it. I got a huge response! After four months I took a leap of faith and quit my job. The event design and wedding planning part of my job came later. Mostly by requests. This is definitely my favorite part of my job.
What’s your favorite thing about your business?
I love seeing the look on a brides face when she sees her vision come to life. This is so rewarding. I also love that I get to be surrounded by such happy people. Weddings are such a joyful time.
What advice do you have for brides when booking a vendor like yourself?
Don’t just make sure that the vendor is in your budget, but also compatible with your personality. This is important because you will be working with them over a long period of time.
How far out should a bride book you?
For wedding planning and event design I typically book out over a year, so sooner the better. Usually the rentals are booked as a first come first serve basis, so it depends on availability.
Do you travel for weddings?
I do travel within Colorado, but since I have furniture and other decor, I don’t go outside of that.
What trends are you seeing in your industry?
Vintage decor is definitely still in, but it is less rustic vintage and more elegant vintage (french country style). Another trend I am seeing is unique color combinations. A bride never has just one color any more, there is a color pallet. Some of the popular colors right now are copper, rose gold, emerald green, gold and lavender. Lastly one of our favorite trends is the use of texture, whether it be in linens, flowers, backdrops, or the cake. For example, I designed this shoot recently inspired by just that! Anything else you want to share?
I recently started offering Event Design. It is my favorite package! This package includes vintage decor rentals, but mainly helps with pulling it all together. With all of the resources out there (Pinterest, blogs, magazines, books, etc.) it can be overwhelming. I help the bride with narrowing down the options, making the custom details and most of all making the wedding have a cohesive look and feel.
